Review of the Paid Toilet Inside Alexanderplatz Station

Location inside the station

This toilet is located inside Alexanderplatz station, closer to the far end near the Dircksenstraße side. From Alexanderplatz square or the S-Bahn and U-Bahn area, it is easiest to enter the station and walk toward the Dircksenstraße exit area. The location is convenient if you are travelling or need a toilet quickly.

Waiting time

When I visited, I did not have to wait long. However, the women’s area seems to get crowded quite easily. Recent comments mention queues and waiting times of more than ten minutes, especially because not all booths may be open. For such a busy station, the number of available stalls feels limited.

Cost and payment

The entrance fee was 1 euro. Card payment appeared to be available, but recent visitors reported that card payment did not always work. There were also complaints about cash machines not returning change properly. Bringing an exact 1-euro coin would be the safest option.

Cleanliness

When I used it, the toilet was usable, but not especially clean. The seat itself was acceptable, but the floor and some surrounding areas looked poorly maintained. Recent reports are mixed: some visitors described it as very clean, while others complained about dirty floors, toilet paper on the ground, and sticky cabins.

Smell

The smell was noticeable. It was not unbearable during my visit, but it was not a place where I wanted to stay longer than necessary. Recent comments also vary a lot, with some people saying it smelled fine and others saying it smelled very bad.

Door lock and defects

The door lock worked during my visit. Still, recent information mentions broken stalls, faulty cleaning mechanisms, and disabled toilets being out of order. There are also reports of the toilet being closed late in the evening or at night, so I would not fully rely on it during late hours.

Handwashing area

The handwashing area was available when I visited. There was a sink and running water, but older and recent comments mention missing soap, only cold water, or no hand-drying towels. It was enough for a quick hand wash, but not especially well maintained.

Staff experience

I did not need much help from the staff during my visit. However, many recent reviews mention unfriendly service, while a few describe the staff as kind and helpful. It seems to depend heavily on who is working at the time.

Overall satisfaction

The biggest advantage is the location. Having a toilet inside Alexanderplatz station is useful, especially when travelling. However, for a paid 1-euro facility, I expected more consistent cleanliness and service. My overall satisfaction was slightly below average.

Would I use it again

I would use it again only if I really needed a toilet while already inside Alexanderplatz station. I would not go there by choice if I had better options nearby. If you plan to use it, bring exact change, expect possible queues, and do not expect spotless conditions.
