Public Toilet near Ostkreuz and Annemirl-Bauer-Platz
Location Guide
This public toilet was near Ostkreuz, on the Annemirl-Bauer-Platz side. From the station area, I walked toward Simplonstraße and found it near the edge of the small green square. Restaurants and bars such as Carlotta Bar, Glory Duck, and Umami F-Hain were nearby, so it was easy to use as a reference point. It was not directly at the station entrance, so I had to allow a few minutes of walking time.
Waiting Time
When I visited, there was no line. I could check and use the facility right away. The area was not crowded at that moment, which made the visit simple. Still, because this toilet is close to Ostkreuz, it could be busier during evenings or weekends. If you are in a hurry, it is better to remember that it is near the station, but not inside the station.
Cost and Payment
The men’s urinal was free to use. I did not need to pay or use a card for that part. This was a strong advantage because free public toilet options in Berlin are not always easy to find. However, the regular toilet cabin was locked during my visit. Because of that, I could not test any paid entry or payment method for the cabin itself. For a quick urinal stop, it worked well. For full toilet use, it was limited.
Cleanliness and Smell
The cleanliness was acceptable for a public toilet near a busy transport area. It was not spotless, but it was not abandoned either. Some marks on the toilet area seemed to come from the self-cleaning system rather than fresh dirt. The smell was not especially pleasant, but it was not overpowering. It had the usual damp public-toilet smell that I often notice around busy city locations.
Door Lock and Facility Issue
The main problem was the locked regular cabin. The men’s urinal was available, but the full toilet cabin could not be opened. This makes the place unreliable for anyone who needs a seated toilet. Recent user reviews on this site also mention that the toilets were locked, so it would be wise to have another option nearby. Older reviews also mentioned outages, so the actual condition may change depending on the day.
Handwashing Area
The handwashing situation was limited because the regular cabin area was locked. For a quick urinal use, it was manageable, but it was not ideal if you need a proper sink afterward. I would bring hand sanitizer or tissues when using this location. That small preparation makes the visit much more comfortable, especially near a busy station.
Satisfaction and Reuse
My overall satisfaction was moderate. The free men’s urinal was useful, and the location near Ostkreuz and Annemirl-Bauer-Platz was convenient. The locked cabin, however, made the toilet less dependable. I would use it again if I only needed a quick urinal stop. If I needed a full toilet cabin or a reliable handwashing area, I would look for another public toilet nearby.
