Review of a paid public toilet in Berlin
Location impression
I used this automatic public toilet in Berlin. I did not have the exact street name, but it seemed like a typical paid public toilet placed in a public area. From the outside, it looked usable at first.
Waiting time
When I visited, there was almost no waiting time. Nobody was standing in front of me, so I could go in right away. Still, the experience already felt uncertain because I had to pay before seeing the actual condition inside.
Cost and payment
This toilet was not free when I used it. I had to pay first through the machine before the door opened. That was one of the most frustrating parts because once I entered, I realized the condition was not worth paying for.
Cleanliness inside
When I went in, the inside was wet and unpleasant. The floor and toilet area looked poorly maintained, and the toilet seat did not feel sanitary. Some older comments said it was clean and fine, but more recent information says it has been dirty again and not worth the money.

Smell inside
The smell was not good either. The wet floor and dirty condition made the space feel uncomfortable. There was a slight cleaning-machine smell, but it did not really cover the unpleasant odor.
Door issue
The door was the part that made me most uncomfortable. Older information mentioned that the door should close faster. More recent information says the door opened again after around 30 seconds and then activated cleaning mode. When I visited, the door did not feel fully reliable either.
Out of service risk
There have also been several reports that this toilet was closed or out of service. Recent information still mentions closure and malfunction issues. When I visited, it was not completely closed, but it did not feel like a place I could trust to work properly every time.
Handwashing area
There was a handwashing area inside. However, because the toilet was wet and poorly maintained overall, the washing area did not feel very clean either. It was usable, but I did not feel refreshed after using it.
Satisfaction level
My satisfaction was low. For a paid public toilet, the condition was disappointing. The biggest problem was that I had to pay first and only then found out how bad the inside was.
Would I use it again
I would not really use this toilet again. In an emergency, and only if there was no other option nearby, I might use it. Otherwise, I would look for another public toilet or a café instead.
