Review of the Wall Public Toilet in Berlin

Location Description

I visited an automatic Wall public toilet in Berlin. It appeared to be a standard unisex public toilet connected to the Berliner Toiletten-App system. Finding and using it was not as simple as expected. The app had to be downloaded, but it did not reliably locate the toilet, which made the whole process frustrating.

Waiting Time

There was no long queue when I arrived. The bigger issue was whether the toilet could actually be used. When you need a toilet urgently, even a short delay caused by app setup and payment checks feels inconvenient.

Cost

The toilet was listed as costing €0.50. Older information and newer comments both mention the same price, so this should be considered a paid public toilet rather than a free one.

Payment Method

When I visited, the main payment option seemed to be credit card. There was also information suggesting that payment through the Berliner Toiletten-App via PayPal was possible. However, if the app cannot even find the toilet properly, that payment option is not very useful in an urgent situation. I did not see clear information about cash payment.

Cleanliness

When I visited, the overall experience was not smooth because of access and usability issues. Older comments mentioned that the toilet was often out of service or not working. However, recent information is more positive. A recent visitor described the bathroom as very clean, sanitized after each use, and well maintained.

Smell

During my visit, I could not comfortably use the toilet long enough to judge the smell in detail. Based on older reports about malfunction and limited usability, I did not expect much. But according to recent information, the toilet now seems cleaner and better maintained, so the smell may also be less of a problem now.

Door Lock and Malfunction

This was the biggest concern for me. Older reports repeatedly described the toilet as broken, out of service, or not usable. With an automatic toilet, that is especially frustrating because you often only find out after arriving. It can be even more difficult for children, women, or disabled users who may not have an easy alternative nearby.

Handwashing Area

Recent information says the toilet has soap, a hand dryer, toilet paper, and hooks for hanging bags. That sounds much better than the older reports. When I visited, I was more focused on whether the toilet would work at all, but if the recent condition is accurate, the handwashing area now seems properly equipped.

Satisfaction

My satisfaction during my visit was low. The card or app-based payment system was not convenient, and the history of malfunction made it feel unreliable. Still, recent information suggests that the toilet may now be much cleaner, brighter, and better maintained than before.

Would I Use It Again

Based on my own visit, I would not rely on this toilet in an emergency. The payment and app issues made it too uncertain. However, if I were nearby and could confirm that it was open, clean, and working with card payment, I would consider using it again.
