Recent Review of a Public Toilet in Berlin

Central Location

This public toilet is located in a central part of Berlin, which makes it useful when you urgently need a restroom while walking around the city. There are also two urinals around the back. The main sit-down toilet is more limited, so waiting can happen when several people arrive at the same time.

Waiting Time

When I visited, I could not enter immediately. The toilet starts an automatic cleaning cycle after each use, and the door only opens after that. If the button is pressed by mistake or the system switches to occupied mode, it can stay unavailable for a while.

Cost and Payment

Based on recent information, the toilet appears to be free to use. Older comments mention 0.50 euros or contactless card payment, but the more recent situation seems to be free access. The urinals at the back are also free, which is helpful in central Berlin.

Cleanliness and Smell

When I used it, the toilet was dirty. The floor and seat were wet, and even with the self-cleaning system, it did not feel properly clean. There was also an unpleasant smell. However, more recent reports say that it has become cleaner and that it is now one of the more respectable options in the area. So the current condition may be better than what I experienced at the time.

Door and Malfunction

The automatic door and technical system were the main concerns. Before using it, I would check whether the door actually opens and whether the display is not stuck on occupied. There are still recent comments saying it sometimes does not work, so it is not a restroom I would fully rely on.

Handwashing Area

There is a handwashing area, and water and soap may be available. That is a good point for a free public toilet. Still, I would bring tissues or hand sanitizer just in case, because supplies may not always be available.

Overall Satisfaction

My satisfaction was mixed. The location and free use are strong advantages, especially in central Berlin. But when I visited, the dirt, smell, and possible door issues made the experience less comfortable. Since newer reports say it has become cleaner, I would rate it more cautiously now.

Would I Use It Again

I would use it again if I urgently needed a restroom nearby. It is free, centrally located, and useful as an emergency option. But if I had more time, I would still prefer a cleaner restroom inside a museum, café, or public building.
