Public Toilet near Auguste Kurzberg in Berlin Review
Location and first impression
This public toilet is in a spot that is fairly easy to find while walking nearby. From the outside, it looked like a toilet I could use quickly, but the actual condition felt unreliable. The area around it also did not feel very comfortable.
Waiting time and availability
There was no long line, but I still did not go in immediately. I first had to check whether it was actually working. Since it seemed to be out of service quite often, I hesitated for a few minutes before using it.
Cost and payment method
The usage fee is 0.50 €. The sign clearly says “Facility Fee 0.50 €” and notes that the fee is collected on behalf of the State of Berlin. It also says that overpayment is possible and that no refunds or change are given, so it is better to prepare the exact amount. Since there may also be a bank card requirement at the toilet, I would prepare both a card and the correct small amount if possible.

Cleanliness and smell
Cleanliness was disappointing. For a paid public toilet, I expected a better-maintained space. The inside did not feel very clean, and the smell was unpleasant. It was the kind of toilet I would only use quickly if I really needed to.
Door and malfunction issues
The biggest problem was the door. It did not close properly, which made the experience uncomfortable. In a public toilet, a working door is very important for privacy. This toilet also seemed to have frequent out-of-service issues, so I could not really trust it.
Handwashing area
There was a handwashing area, but it did not feel very clean or reliable. It was enough for a quick hand wash, but not a place where I wanted to stay longer than necessary.
Satisfaction and willingness to use again
Overall, my satisfaction was low. The 0.50 € fee is not expensive, but with the door issue, frequent malfunctions, unpleasant smell, and uncomfortable surroundings, it did not feel worth paying for. I might use it again only in an urgent situation, but if there is another toilet nearby, I would choose that first.
